Community Sevice Project
This is so exciting. We were able to complete 80 of these cute fabic backpacks yesterday! They are each filled with age/gender appropriate books, toys, activities, etc. and ready to give to children when they arrive at the Skagit Valley Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Safe House with their mothers. Thanks to all the sisters who donated their time and means to make this project so rewarding! Judging by the quality and variety of the donations received and the cuteness of the bags, I think they will be much loved by all the children who are in the tough situation of having to go to the shelter. Hopefully they will feel cared about.
These last two pictures are example of the contents of the bags. Sorry the pictures are small, but if you double click on each photo you can enlarge them. There were so many sisters from both wards who donated items, fabric and money, and so many who came to help sew, sort and assemble, it was just great.
I know many sisters wanted to come help and couldn't. We appreciate you too, and will have more opportunities for your assistance down the road abit.
By the way, thanks to the Mount Vernon 2nd Ward sisters for providing a delicious lunch. It was nice to refuel and to socialize with our dear friends, old and new in that ward.
